We were brought in to consult on store zoning, with the goal of enhancing the store interior and consumer experience through a digital lens.

Outcome

A New Type of Club Shop

Man City and Puma clearly understand what consumers, particularly the younger demographic, desire in a club shop. These insights led to the creation of a digitised Club store space featuring a fresh new design & several key digital moments spotted strategically through the store. Highlights include a Retro Wall that displays key club moments over the years and showcases their Retro shirt range. Additionally, there's a photo opportunity called "Pose with the Pros," allowing fans to take pictures with their MCFC heroes. Key digital features, including a super large LED screen at the front of the store and digital signage in the customization area, complete the vision and ensure consumer engagement from the moment they enter.

When designing a store, sight lines and a study of shopper characteristics are key ingredients to ensure maximum engagement. We designed a perforated metal frontage with illuminated club crest, a giant size LED screen and light boxes showing MCFC hero moments in partnership with Tchai, our production partner.

Store Design

The collaborative efforts of the Puma, Man City, Tchai, and OMM teams resulted in the design of a well-zoned store, featuring thoughtfully considered consumer flows and a fresh aesthetic. Key elements include full-height club mosaic wallpaper, changing rooms inspired by the club’s nautical heritage, and strategically placed digital signage to guide visitors towards the customisation area.

Pose with the Pros Experience

Everyone wants to get a picture with their heroes and a full height touch screen with a built-in camera to take pictures with their favourite players is perfect for that purpose. Consumers could stand in front of the screen, select their players and they would walk on screen in real size next to them. You could then personalise your photo via the touchscreen and scan + download it to your photo to prove you were really there.

Retro Wall

Having a rich bountiful resource of historical video and imagery laid the groundwork for a perfect canvas to present the Retro club shirts. We designed an integrated digital fixture which showed all the MCFS historical shirts across many eras, and played an evocative movie created by our motion team to bring these unforgettable moments to life.

Electrical, Data and Content Deployment

Throughout the project, we provided expert consultation to ensure all data and electrical systems were appropriately installed. We also allocated dedicated space in the server room, back of house, to facilitate easy maintenance and seamless remote content deployment across the store.

LED and Digital Fixture Installation

Our teams managed a detailed program in coordination with the general contractor, electrical suppliers, and our production partner Tchai. This coordination was essential for the successful commissioning of the large 4m x 3m LED wall, custom-made tickers, and the two interactive experiences. The result - a best-in-class Club shop, prominently located in the heart of the Manchester Arndale Centre.
